Tim Wellens out of Tour de France in blow for Tadej Pogacar

Ever since he was involved in that terrible crash at the Tour of Flanders, it has seemed like a race against time for Tim Wellens to be fit for the Tour de France. Now it seems as if he has lost that race.

According to a report by Het Laatste Nieuws, Tadej Pogacar and the UAE Team Emirates team will have to do without the 32-year-old, Belgian, four-time Grand Tour stage winner at the upcoming Tour de France. This will be a blow for Pogacar as he himself recovers from a crash-induced injury and looks to regain the Maillot Jaune.

Wellens did ride the recent Tour of Slovenia although according to the report, UAE Team Emirates were left unimpressed by his performances and have decided he will not be ready in time for the Tour de France.

The duo of Wellens and Pogacar have recently spent a lot of time at altitude together in Sierra Nevada as they both worked on their recovery. Sadly for Wellens he has not been able to regain his best shape.
