With five victories to his name, Romain Grégoire was one of the three most prolific French riders in 2023. A very big performance when you realize that the Groupama-FDJ rider is only 20 years old and was in his first year among the professionals!
Sparkling on the 4 Jours de Dunkerque and the Tour du Limousin, Grégoire also shone in the WorldTour, with a remarkable performance on the Strade Bianche at the start of the season (8th) and a second place in a stage of Vuelta a Espana.
"It's a successful season. I was hoping to win races, it was done five times, I didn't think I would win general classifications, but I did. So we can say it's a really successful season. For a first season, it's very good," declared Grégoire, speaking to Cyclism'Actu.
Aware that he still has "steps to overcome to reach the high level," the winner of Liège-Bastogne-Liège U23 2022 does not yet know which major races he will have the opportunity to compete in 2024. "Tour de France and Paris Olympic Games? Why not, it's a little early to think about it. The Olympics are of course a dream, but I don't know yet,", concludes the one who also supported Lenny Martinez when he raced in the leading jersey at La Vuelta.
