With the goal of taking the win he almost got last year, Tom Pidcock returns to Amstel Gold Race with high ambitions and comes along with a very strong INEOS lineup which brings in more dangerous cards to play.
Last year after an attacked race, Pidcock ended up defeated by Wout van Aert in the final sprint by the narrowest of margins which to this day remains dispute by some. Pidcock has very quickly risen to the top of the ranks when it comes to the hilly classics, and despite his slower start to the season due to stomach issues, he's recently shown better form with a podium spot at Dwars door Vlaanderen and 14th at the Tour des Flandres.
Despite the absence of Jhonatan Narváez, the team has several cards to play. Runner-up at Tour des Flandres Dylan van Baarle for once, a strong rider tactically and one who will enjoy the long kilometers this race has to offer. Youngsters Magnus Sheffield and Ben Turner have impressed early in the year and will be wildcards, whilst experienced face Michal Kwiatkowski will also be one to consider as he should have the freedom to go for a result of his own too.
INEOS Grenadiers for Amstel Gold Race: Tom Pidcock, Michal Kwiatkowski, Laurens de Plus, Luke Rowe, Magnus Sheffield, Ben Turner, Dylan van Baarle.
