Alpecin-Deceuninck's Timo Kielich has taken the win at the Volta NXT Classic 2024, outsprinting Pascal Eenkhoorn in a two-man battle for the victory.
Nine men tried their luck in the break today, including most notably, Gianluca Brambilla and Frank Van den Broek among them. Strongest of them seemingly was Huub Artz though, with the 21-year-old Dutchman attacking clear. With just over 30km to go though, he'd been reeled back in by the chasers.
As things regrouped at the front, an ever-dwindling group of leaders held the lead. With Pascal Eenkhoorn the next to try his luck with an attack, heading into the final 10km, he'd been joined by Timo Kielich around 15 seconds clear. Going past the flamme rouge, the duo were still clear although there wasn't much margin for error. In the end, it was Kielich who proved to have the stronger sprint, taking the win ahead of Eenkhoorn with the podium completed by Henri Uhlig.
