Tim van Dijke was the best-placed finisher for Team Visma | Lease a Bike at Paris-Roubaix 2024, sprinting to 8th place. Initially at least, as the Dutchman has since been relegated.

With Tim and his brother, Mick van Dijke a consistent presence at the front of the race, the 24-year-old came into the velodrome still very much in the mix for a top-10 placing and thought he had done enough to secure it too with his sprint.

Upon review however, the race jury has judged that van Dijke's sprint took him off of the velodrome track and therefore seen fit to relegate him down to 16th place. Still good enough for best-placed within Team Visma | Lease a Bike but no longer a top-10 monument finish.

Did he get tired or he just hate not being on the podium? :-)

Oof! Rookie mistake!

Mistermaumau 21 April 2024 at 15:23+ 3350

Or maybe just blank mind from exhaustion?

That could be one of the main reasons too

It was clear relegation as soon as i saw it. No one is allowed to go beyond that line in a velodrome, it is very risky for the staff who are in that area.
