Three wildcards revealed for the Giro d'Italia with Tudor Pro Cycling Team set for Grand Tour debut

The Giro d'Italia has revealed where the wildcards on offer for this year's race have landed. Three teams have been gifted participation, including Tudor Pro Cycling Team who will make a Grand Tour debut.

Unlike at the Tour de France, where there were just two wildcard invitations, at the Giro d'Italia, three were on offer after - for the second in a row - Lotto Dstny declined their place in the race, despite having earned it alongside Israel - Premier Tech through the World Tour rankings.

As mentioned, one of the invitees are the Tudor Pro Cycling Team. The team run by legendary time-trialist Fabian Cancellara, the Swiss team has star riders such as Arvid de Kleijn, Alberto Dainese, Michael Storer, Marius Mayrhofer and Matteo Trentin among others.

The other two wildcards fall to Giro d'Italia regulars, VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè and the team run by Alberto Contador and Ivan Basso Team Polti Kometa. Last year, in their guise of EOLO-Kometa, the team actually took a stage win through Davide Bais.
