"This is certainly the greatest success of my career so far" - Tour de Slovenia winner Giovanni Aleotti can't hide his excitement

Giovanni Aleotti is the winner of the Tour of Slovenia 2024. The 25-year-old Italian from BORA - hansgrohe successfully defended his overall lead on the extremely contested final stage of the five-day race, winning the overall classification by ten seconds ahead of Spaniard Pello Bilbao and 26 seconds ahead of his Italian compatriots Giulio Pellizzari and Domenico Pozzovivo.

For two-time champion of the popular Romanian 2.1 stage race Sibiu Tour (2021 and 2022), this is his first time winning at the .Pro level. "This is certainly the greatest success of my career so far. Thank you to all the people who support me," he confides on his team’s website, before discussing today’s stage. "The race was very eventful from the start. 40 or 50 kilometers from the finish, a group of strong guys broke away and I was a little worried."

His closest opponent in general classification - Pello Bilbao was also part of this dangerous move along other GC men Ben Healy and Paul Double. "But we never panicked, we were able to come back and control the race. I'm really grateful to my teammates for their support, and not only today but also throughout the week, I focused on Bilbao and everything went well," concludes the 25-year-old rider.
