Odd Christian Eiking had a rollercoaster of winter. Firstly the birth of the Norwegian's child, then a fear for his professional career after not recieving contract initially. On top of that a training car accident and his bike stolen. Yet Eiking now has a reason to smile again in an interview for Norwegian TV2, as everything had gone as well as possible and he's already preparing for his debut in Uno-X Mobility jersey.
"It was a very nasty experience that was painful and everything that comes with a hard collision," says Eiking about his accident. "It was not nice and the pictures of the bike speak for themselves. It was powerful and a lot of power was at play. That I got away so cheaply... I don't know what to say."
"It was a little extra emotional and I thought about what could have happened with the forces at play in the collision, says the 29-year-old. "It gets a little extra weird when I have become a new father, and the children and wife are sitting at home and are about to receive this news."
On top of it all, the family experienced a burglary in the shed. Among other things, an expensive bike was stolen. "There can't only be good things, it has to be weighed up a bit. When you experience a lot of positive things, it's okay to have a bit of balance in life, that it gets a little 'crap' every now and then," says Eiking jokingly.
