While for Lenny Martinez the stage four of Tour de Romandie was a walk through the hell and back, his teammate David Gaudu had a 'feels good' day in the saddle - something he hasn't had very often so far in 2024. For Gaudu, this is a sign that his preparation towards July is moving in the right direction.
"I'm happy to still be there in the final and to have been able to support Lenny, he made a good climb considering the day. Actually, we didn't end up so far from the other favorites," Gaudu reacted after the finish.
"I made sure to always have Lenny around me to try to boost him. We managed to get back on the flat when necessary, to benefit from the work of the UAE teammates before making a big final effort. I think that we can't have regrets today, we gave it everything."
"I feel that my form is improving little by little. I will be able to go on a racing break after tomorrow on a fairly decent note, with ups and downs here and there, but that's normal. The preparation for the Tour de France looks a little clearer, I hope we will have more great things from now on," he concluded optimistically.
