Max Schachmann soon jumped across the gap and sacrificed his chances in order to get a gap established over the riders who hadn't made it in front, and the Russian climber sprinted towards the win. Both Sergio Higuita and Felix Grossschartner finished in the chasing group and remain options for the general classification.
Vlasov aknowledges that the hardest part of the race are to start tomorrow, but he is currently sitting in pole position of the race. "However, the most important days for the standings are yet to come," he pointed out. "We will now also have to do more work as a team, but we will try to keep the jersey. The shape is good. We are going to do our best."
