Team Medellín - EPM withdraw from Tour of Hellas as Miguel Ángel López unable to race

Miguel Ángel López will not appear at the start of the International Tour of Hellas next week. The Colombian climber would participate in the Greek stage race, but his team Team Medellín-EPM has to withdraw due to "unforeseen circumstances".

López was the most attention-drawing name on the list of participants of the International Tour of Hellas (May 2-6), but has to drop out at the last minute, as he crashed out of the recent Tour of the Gila. This is a bitter pill for race organizers, which can now count on the presence of twenty teams.

After the postpone of the Tour of Turkey, Team Medellín-EPM was forced to change its schedule. The Colombian formation did not want to travel to Europe just for the International Tour of Hellas, and has therefore canceled its planned European trip.

The stage race will start on Tuesday (May 2) with a prologue in Heraklion on Crete. The following day will offer opportunities for climbers in a stage on the famous holiday island, before the race will move to the mainland for the remaining stages.
