Tadej Pogacar and Mathieu van der Poel spotted training side-by-side

Two of the biggest superstars in the modern cycling world, Tadej Pogacar and Mathieu van der Poel have been spotted training alongside each other in Calpe.

Via the Instagram story of Pogacar's UAE Team Emirates teammate, Jan Christen, the superstar duo are seen riding side-by-side. Perhaps sharing secrets of their own success or recalling tales of races gone by, the pair have long been known as good friends and this provides further evidence of that fact.

Both van der Poel and Pogacar have big goals coming up in the next few weeks and months. Firstly, the Dutchman will attempt to defend his Cyclocross World Championship title, before both will eye some success in the Spring Classics as the friends will become rivals.

Then on the calendar is a Giro d'Italia debut for Tadej Pogacar, as he attempts to become the first man since Marco Pantani to successfully complete a Giro d'Italia/Tour de France double in the same season.
