Swiss Cycling Federation provide update on Stefan Küng: "His general condition is good considering the circumstances"

Stefan Küng suffered serious injuries at a superficial level following his crash at the European time-trial championships. The Swiss Cycling Federation has commented on the fall that led to his demise from the fight for the medals, and update that he will not require any surgery.

After the race and proper examination, the Swiss Cycling Federation commented on Küng's condition: "His general condition is good considering the circumstances. An operation is not necessary immediately. More research will follow upon his return to Switzerland."

Kuss' season is reportedly ended after the fall, as he misses out on the remaining events of the Europeans whilst on great form. During his time-trial, he crashed into a set of barriers he hadn't seen and lost a big amount of blood. It was a complicated, controversially he was allowed back on the bike and finished his effort whilst suffering from a concussion, fractures in the face and hand and a clearly shattered helmet - besides having blood all over his equipment.

Not having yet talked to reporters, Küng is yet to tell his side of the story, but a lot of commotion is being launched into race organizers and the Swiss race staff for allowing him to continue the race under conditions where there was little safety.
