Arguably the most in-form rider in the cycling world, Demi Vollering has been racing on another level so far in 2023. The secret to her excellent form? Team SD Worx manager Anna van der Breggen.
"You don't have much time to think about it. It's a bit of chaos. You go from course to course," Vollering says when reviewing her recent hot streak before revealing her favourite victory of the year came at Strade Bianche Donne. "I am proud of how we raced there as a team and how we fought to the finish."
Anna van der Breggen, a seven-time La Fleche Wallone Feminine winner in her own right is now team manager at the SD Worx set-up and Vollering admits she owes a lot to the advice given to her by her Dutch compatriot. "Anna van der Breggen now makes my training schedules and she directs me to feel the training sessions myself," Vollering explains.
"But I have also made a step mentally. If you are stronger, you have more room to think and to make logical decisions. I used to be at my limit and I could think less. And tactically I am also getting stronger, with the help of the team," she concludes.
