"I was nervous today, I thought I could not do it" - Demi Vollering destroys self-doubt to claim stunning Fleche Wallone win

Demi Vollering is in the form of her life at the moment. Continuing Team SD Worx dominance of the women's World Tour, Vollering put any self-doubt to the back of her mind to take victory at La Fleche Wallone Feminine.

Making her decisive attack right at the bottom of the famed Mur de Huy, Vollering simply never looked back. Although a few riders were able to momentarily get back into touching distance with the 26-year-old Dutchwoman, none were able to really threaten her position at the head of the race.

"It was amazing. I was nervous today, I thought I could not do it," Vollering admitted in an emotional post-race interview that alluded to the self-doubt she was feeling despite the face she has now won four of her last six races, finishing second in the other two.

"My teammates really helped me focus, it really was a team effort," Vollering concluded. Team SD Worx have been so dominant in the women's World Tour in 2023, new viewers to women's cycling would be forgiven to thinking they are the only team. The likes of Trek - Segafredo and the Movistar Team have work to do if they are to challenge Vollering and SD Worx in future.
