Ricarda Bauernfeind over the moon to win Tour de France Femmes stage: "As a team we have been waiting for this big win. It's fantastic!"

Ricarda Bauernfeind booked an impressive victory in the Tour de France Femmes on Thursday. She won the fifth stage to Albi with an impressive 35 kilometers solo ride.

"I can't believe it, it's unbelievable," said the German cyclist in a quick interview after the stage.

"I had all the support from my teammates, from the people in the team cars, from all the partners. Everyone helped me. It was an incredible team effort. We had to chase the first group, because we missed it. My teammates did a great job. Then I had to do it. I tried to attack and it worked."

23-year old Bauernfeind, is the youngest rider ever to win a stage in the Tour de France Femmes. It is also the second German stage victory in this year's race after Liane Lippert. "It's fantastic," says Bauernfeind. "As a team we have also been waiting all year for this win. Now I did it. No, we did it. It's fantastic."
