UAE Team Emirates' Jay Vine has taken a stunning time trial victory on stage 4 of the 2024 Vuelta a Burgos just a few months after a life threatening crash in the Basque Country.
The penultimate stage of the 2024 Vuelta a Burgos saw the riders take on an 18.5km time trial course from Santa María del Campo to Pampliega. Of the earlier riders out on course, the best times came from the likes of Ivo Oliveira, Michael Leonard and Edoardo Affini. The first man to drop below the 20 minute mark however, was Jay Vine clocking 19:51.
Whilst the likes of Thymen Arensman and Antonio Tiberi set blistering times at the intermediate check, both were unable to beat Jay Vine at the line. Race leader Sepp Kuss set the second fastest time at the intermediate, and whilst he slipped to 15th at the line, the American kept the overall lead.
