Reigning Olympic Champion Anna Kiesenhofer could be set for return to full-time racing

The reigning Olympic Champion from the women's road race event in Tokyo, Anna Kiesenhofer has been linked to a return to full-time cycling after taking time away since her gold to focus on her teaching career.

Having spent the last year away from the sport, concentrating on being a postdoctoral fellow in mathematics at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Kiesenhofer is understood to be interested in a return to cycling. The most likely destination? Jérôme Pineau’s B&B Hotels team.

The major stumbling block here though is the uncertainty surrounding Kiesenhofer's potential suitors finances. Despite Pineau saying he's hoping to boost funds, bring in major names and add a women's team, there is yet to be any concrete announcement regarding sponsorship.

Amidst all the uncertainty and worry, a career renaissance for the woman whose most famous victory was once called "one of the greatest shocks in Olympics and cycling history" could just be the silver lining needed.
