Profiles. The Vuelta a Colombia 2023 will take place between June 16 and 25 and will have a total of nine stages and an initial prologue. With Nairo Quintana ruling out his participation, Miguel Ángel López is confirmed as the great star of the South American round.
PROLOGUE
Prologue of 7.8 kilometers to open the race through the streets of Yopal to create the first differences between those of the general. The course has 2 long straights and 3 90 degree bends so it is not too technical.
STAGE 1
The first stage of the Vuelta a Colombia 2023 has 197.3 kilometres, also starting and finishing in Yopal. The first part is somewhat steeper and includes a couple of category four climbs that will determine the first leader of the Mountain classification. The final part is flat.
STAGE 2
The second stage, of 160.1 kilometers between Tibasosa and Gachancipá, has three climbs on its route, one second and one third in the middle part and another third in the final part of the test that could break the main group and the possibility of sprinting in the Alto de Ventaquemada.
STAGE 3
The third stage is a circuit through the city of Ibague with a total of 105.6 km with a first part downhill and with a not too hard uphill finish that can create the first differences in the classification beyond the initial prologue.
STAGE 4
The first Hors Category climb of the Tour of Colombia 2023 arrives in the fourth stage with the climb to Alto de la Línea Caseta. Short stage, 119.3 km, starting from Ibague and with steep terrain practically from the beginning to the end.
STAGE 5
Another 165.5-kilometre mountain stage between Dosquebradas and Belalcazar with the first-class climb of La Virgen-Quinchia Entrada in the middle of the course and with a second-class climb at the end before the finish line.
STAGE 6
Stage 6 has 164.8 kilometers between La Virginia and the second port of Apia. Constant ups and downs throughout the entire route, with a second pass through La Virginia and with the aforementioned high end.
STAGE 7
Another mountain stage, this time with a summit finish in a first-class port where the general could be decided. A 195.9-kilometer route starting from Pereira with a first-category climb to Alto Sanclemente, a third-category climb to Alto Tabor, a long descent, a flat section, a third-class climb and a final ascent to the very tough port of Manizales.
STAGE 8
The penultimate stage of the Vuelta a Colombia 2023 has 179.7 kilometers between La Pintada and Túnel with a completely flat first part, with a hard second part with a chain of a First class climb (Alto de Ecosiembra) and 2 thirds before facing the end: a long descent and a climb to a fourth-class port as the finish line.
STAGE 9
The last stage will be an individual time trial starting and finishing at La Ceja, the city of birth of Fernando Gaviria. The time trial includes a climb to a third-rate climb (the Alto del Nano) and then a winding terrain until the end. We'll see if the general gets here alive after so much mountain.
