Before the commencement of Itzulia Basque Country, the Spanish peloton tackles the prestigious GP Miguel Indurain. Named after the legendary figure of Spanish cycling, this hilly one-day race attracts climbers and riders with prowess in the classics.
The race is one for the puncheurs and climbers, although none are favoured over the other. The peloton will face climbs of different lengths and gradients throughout the entire day and plenty opportunities for attacks.
The race can see it's decisive attacks earlier, however a final selection regardless of the scenario is likely to happen in the final sequence of climbs. They are 4km at 5.4%, 1.6km at 4.6% and 600 meters at 10%. All of these ascents summit in extremely quick succession within the final 10 kilometers and lead into the downhill finish in Estella.
