Primoz Roglic doesn't seem to catch a break this year as he's been going from injury to illness to injury since the start of this season. After his Critérium du Dauphiné victory, things seemed to be finally heading in the right direction until a double-crash disaster struck in the second week of Tour de France.
You'd say nothing new for the Slovenian. Time to reassess goals and aim for fourth Vuelta a Espana victory, just like many times before. But it won't be as easy as it seems. That is because Roglic's injuries turn out to have been more severe than what it initially seemed, the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe leader reveals on social media.
"Life is not the easiest sometimes huh?" Roglic begins his Instagram post. "Further examinations after the Tour de France crash showed a nondisplaced fracture of processus transversus in the lower back so last week I was recovering at Red Bull Arhlete Performance Center, where they were taking the best care of me..."
"I'm slowly getting back on bike and taking my time to recover and will see where this takes us... In these times I realised, once again, that I have the best fans In the world. Thank you!," he conludes optimistically. However his Vuelta a Espana start is now up in the air, and we'll be impatiently awaiting more updates regarding his recovery. There's still a bit more than three weeks until the Gran Salida in Lisboa (August 17).
