Primoz Roglic wins the most UCI points from Giro d'Italia, Derek Gee finishes close to top of rankings due to new points system

The Giro d'Italia, being one of the three Grand Tours of the season, is one of the biggest sources of UCI points. Over 22.000 due to the new UCI system, we show you the riders who won the most UCI points throughout this whole Corsa Rosa.

The ranking, reported by Raúl Banqueri, shows the riders who won the most points and how many, and also compared to what if it the old points system was in use. What is very visible is the clear advantage riders like Derek Gee, Toms Skujins obtained from breakaway results and secondary classification, and also with Jonathan Milan, Mads Pedersen and Michael Matthews revealing the positive change for the sprinters.

The overall classification, whilst still being the most important source of points within the race, is no longer the absolute dominant factor, and a larger variety of riders reach the top. Primoz Roglic has won 1750 points throughout the Giro closely followed by Geraint Thomas with 1627. João Almeida, Thibaut Pinot and Derek Gee follow in the Top5.

Whilst the teams are currently not racing in urgency for points, at the end of 2025 there will be a new change. Israel - Premier Tech, who was relegated this winter, has gotten in Derek Gee a vital source of points in this race whilst all riders around him are part of teams who should largely be safe from the battle that is to come in the coming years.
