The last UCI European race of 2024 arrives, the Veneto Classic, where Movistar Team will try to surprise with an exciting trio formed by Davide Formolo, Einer Rubio and Nairo Quintana. The favorite, as in almost all Italian classics at the end of the season, will be again Marc Hirschi, who will try to give UAE Team Emirates another victory before leaving for Tudor.
It will be the last race of the year for Movistar in a race that will have an explosive course with an almost completely flat first part and a second part with a hard circuit with two passes through Rosina (2 km at 6%) and four passes through Via Mazzarina (6 km uphill with percentages up to 8%) and the climbs that will decide the race: the very hard Muro della Tissa (200 meters with ramps of 18%), the Diesel Farm (1 km at 11%) and Via Soarda (ramps of 13% with a summit 4 km from the finish line).
As we have said, the big favorite to win in Veneto will be once again Marc Hirschi who will have in UAE the support of men like Filippo Baroncini, Jay Vine or Diego Ulissi. Watch out for Groupama FDJ with men like Romain Grégoire or if Corbin Strong can repeat for Israel what he did in the Giro del Veneto a few days ago. Other prominent men are Giulio Pellizzari, Mathew Riccitello or Harold Lopez. We do not think that with the hardness of the ramps Kaden Groves can opt for the win and the leader of Alpecin could be Axel Laurence.
In short, a race with a beautiful course, perfect to put the finishing touch to a beautiful year of cycling that, as we always say, goes far beyond the Tadej Pogacar, Remco Evenepoel or Mathieu van der Poel of the moment...
