Enric Mas clearly intends to break his jinx and get a good result in the
Tour de France 2025. Usually well placed at the Vuelta a España (four times on the podium), the
Movistar Team leader has only once finished in the top 10 of the French round. The Spanish rider hopes that will change in this edition.
Today was the presentation of the race and
Eurosport was present to interview Enric: "Well, the truth is that super happy to be here again, at the start here in Lille. It's always spectacular at the start of a Tour so enjoying the moment and let's see what's in store for us," the 30-year-old began.
He was then asked about Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard, as the two big favorites to win the overall classification. However, he wasn't daunted and showed significant ambitions: "Yes, as you say, it's clear that these two riders are now making an epoch, but well, this is a Tour like those of years ago, that in the first 10 days anything can happen, so let's think about the podium and enjoy the road."
He knows what awaits him in these first days: "It will be a complicated start, but we will try to enjoy the tension for so many days, but I think that with the team we have we can make a good start and go for the stages."
Although he admitted that he has not yet been able to study well how these stages will be: "The truth is that very little. Very little because we have not had time to recognize. Now there are so many races and the preparation for the Tour has taken away many days of recons so I don't know.... Today we have done the last 30 kilometers and we have seen that it will be a bit chaotic, but well, it will be for everyone."
