PREVIEW | Coppa Bernocchi 2024: Can Marc Hirschi hold off Remco Evenepoel for another one day victory?

The Coppa Bernocchi, the race with the most opportunities for sprinters in the Italian October, is a race with more than a century of history that in 2024 will be held on Monday, October 7. The event, held in Legnano, near Milan, has a route of 174 km - shorter than in previous editions - which takes place in the Valle Olona region.

The passage over the Caramamma climb (1.6 km at 6%), which is tackled seven times, is overcome for the last time 31 kilometers from the finish. A fast and direct finish will give the attackers the chance to fight for victory at the flat finish of Viale Toselli, which marks the closing of the second round of the 'Trittico Lombardo' before tackling Tuesday's

Although the route is not bad at all for the sprinters, it would be rare that a breakaway would not be the one to win the race, although there is no ground for great exhibitions and Remco Evenepoel, who is on the list of participants, will not have easy to surprise his rivals, although he has already won the race, back in 2021 (last year it was won by Wout van Aert). Primoz Roglic we will see if he is in better shape than he showed in the World Championship. Obviously, for form, all eyes will again be on Marc Hirschi.
