Sonny Colbrelli has recently announced his retirement from pro cycling, following cardiac issues that have been discovered in a dramatic way following the finale of the opening stage of the Volta a Catalunya. However, he has gotten a large tattoo to commemorate his successful career.
Colbrelli was diagnosed with arrhythmia following his collapse back in March. Although he looked at alternatives, he had a subcutaneous device implemented in his body that could help save his life if the heart was to fail again. Prioritizing his health, Colbrelli has raced his final day as a pro cyclist whilst being the defending European Champion and Paris-Roubaix winner.
He's shared on Instagram pictures of a tattoo he had made to celebrate his career. It is a design based on the Trouée d'Arenberg (the most famous cobbled sector of Paris-Roubaix) and his two children.
