One of Tadej Pogacar's teammates for the World Championships hit by a car

Slovenia is heading into the World Championships with the formidable duo of Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic, but not everything is going to plan. The two climbers will need support in the hilly race and after Matej Mohoric suffered a crash that put his race in doubt; Luka Mezgec has been hit by a car only days before the race.

"Burned one of those cat's lifes" was the caption of an Instagram story posted by Team Jayco AlUla rider and Slovenian national team member Luka Mezgec who was set up to race in Zurich this Sunday in support of this year's Grand Tour winners.

Despite this, the veteran only emerged from the incident with a few scratches on the knee, a positively surprising outcome taking into consideration that he also shows his bike literally under the wheel of the car that hit him. His presence in the road race hence is not confirmed but is likely.
