Great Britain has joined Belgium, Australia, Spain, France and Germany as the winners of gold medals in the Zurich World Championships. In the final time-trial event, that of the junior women, 18-year old Cat Ferguson put on a masterful performance to take a victory with a wide margin.
The British road race champion in the junior rankings put in a ride that would match her Movistar teammate Iván Romeo who won the men's under-23 event yesterday, and in the 18.8-kilometer route managed to put in 34 seconds on her closest rival to take the rainbow jersey. This is another proof of her enormous talent, a rider that at 18 years old is already a trainee at the elite Movistar Women's team and has already taken her first pro win among the pros.
Today, she beat Slovakia's Viktória Chladoñová and her compariot Imogen Wolff, who took the silver and bronze medals respectively.
