Biniam Girmay is leading
Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux at the Canadian classics, and he will be a leading figure in the peloton as it tackles to explosive and hilly classics.
At the start of the Canadian race, Girmay told reporters that "it's my first time in North America, I'm really excited! My goal is to achieve good results as we approach the World Championships!" He'll be one of the main favourites this Friday in Québec as the route favours the sprinters that can climb, and the Eritrean fits in the picture perfectly alongside past winners such as Michael Matthews and Peter Sagan.
Girmay is aiming high into the World Championships however, and this block of racing will also be used as a stepping stone into Wollongong. His performance at the GP Montréal will be crucial, as it is a more climber-friendly route and more similar to what he will find later in the month.
