Harsh statements by Miguel Ángel López due to the fact that neither he nor Nairo Quintana can be competing in the WorldTour at the moment. The current Team Medellín - EPM cyclist launched a brutal message directed, we imagine, to the UCI , ASO and the rest of the body that governs cycling today:
"I don't know if it's because we are Latinos or because Colombia has a lot of potential in cycling and when we were dominating they took advantage of that opportunity to sink us. If we weren't Colombians, we wouldn't be facing what is happening to us right now and we could compete in the Giro Italy or prepare for the Tour without any problem."
He explains that when they kicked him out of Astana they did it on purpose at the last minute so he couldn't be hired by any other team. "They made me wait until the last minute so I couldn't consider any other possibility of joining another team. They let me go like they didn't know me and I was a random person."
On his case, he commented the following in statements collected by Antena 2: "At the moment, he is at the same point. Meanwhile, I am here focusing on my career, but I do not have any problem with the UCI for doping issues or something for the style," he said.
