"Maybe it's not ideal for me but we'll give it a go" - Ben Healy coy on chances ahead of La Fleche Wallonne

After his breakthrough campaign in 2023, Ben Healy is finding top results a little more difficult in 2024 and is still waiting for his first win. Could that all change this afternoon at La Fleche Wallonne?

Despite being fancied by many at last Sunday's Amstel Gold Race the Irishman missed out on the decisive move and ended up coming home in 45th. "It was a hard race in the end. We had that move up the road and yeah, I missed that move but the legs are there," he assesses in his pre-La Fleche Wallonne interview. "We've got two more days to try now."

"This race is normally a bit more scripted," the EF Education-EasyPost star continues. "Maybe the final doesn't fully suit me but with bad weather and potential crosswinds at the start, who knows how the race is going to play out."

"I think it could all make for a harder race this year," Healy concludes. "I'm not the most explosive, I kind of like that attritional race so maybe it's not ideal for me but we'll give it a go today."
