Matej Mohoric, Pello Bilbao & Phil Bauhaus give Bahrain - Victorious multi-faceted approach for 2024 Tour de Pologne

The peloton continues to roll towards the Vuelta a Espana. For some in the World Tour however, the Tour de Pologne is on the cards rather the final Grand Tour of the year.
At the 2024 Tour de Pologne, one of the teams to watch will be Bahrain - Victorious. Leading the charge for the team in Poland, will be the duo of general classification hunter Pello Bilbao and bunch sprint stage hunter, Phil Bauhaus, as well as wildcard riders such as defending Tour de Pologne champion Matej Mohoric and Fred Wright.
“The race is a bit harder this year compared to 2023. We have a couple of rolling stages with short, steep climbs, and stages 1, 3 & 6 plus the time trial, will be the important ones for GC," previews sports director Michal Golas to the team's official website. "Matej is the defending champion from last year and he won it by a single second, so we know how important the bonus seconds can be.”
“With Matej and Pello coming from the Tour, and Zamba to help in the mountains, I think we will be competitive, and I would like to do well on GC again. We also have a couple of good chances for Phil so we will support him as much as we can, and I think the team is good enough to make a good lead out to fight for sprint wins," Golas concludes. "It’s a classic Tour de Pologne parcours, and another nice week ahead. The race will be decided by a few seconds again, but the nature of the Time Trial could make more of a difference than in previous editions.”

- I get the point totally. We live in the snowflake society where some riders forget they are getting paid to ride and get results. When they have a few issues they try to look outside of the real issue instead of themselves. It odd so many of the team are making no complaints and getting on with their job. - many people advise him to grow slowly and rather do giro and/or vuelta instead of tdf. but i can totally understand that he is not satisfied with taking over once pogi declines, but instead beat him in his prime. so if he goes for tdf again, i‘m all for it. let‘s hope that pogi recovers soon!Ketterechts07-11-2026
- So gracious to offer something no-one would be prepared to pay for. The Giro is not the Tour and doesn’t command the same interest or attract the same “elite” (those willing to pay to be a part of something they consider has ego boosting potential). Roadside viewing will always largely remain free for everyone outside circuits. Introduction of a symbolic entrance to mountain climbs is worthy of exploration. Asking 1-2€ isn’t going to repulse real fans (most will spend 50-100€ on their outing that day all things included) but will prevent a portion of the total knobhead thrillseekers who will join in any large gathering as long as it’s free, just because they’re attracted to crowds, without which it it difficult for them to work up their anti-social behaviour.Jumpyjohn07-11-2026
