Olav Kooij will return to racing at the Tour of Pologne, joining Jonas Vingegaard for the stage race

Olav Kooij and Jonas Vingegaard will meet in the Visma | Lease a Bike colours at the upcoming Tour of Pologne (August 12-18). This was confirmed by the race organisers.
The Polish WorldTour race will be Kooij's return to racing after a rest period following the National Road Championships at the end of June. In Arnhem, the 22-year-old sprinted to a second place behind Dylan Groenewegen.
Kooij is not unfamiliar with the race in Poland, as he'll be making his fourth appearance in a row this year. With two stage victories and two more second places from past editions, the Dutch speedster certainly doesn't mind returning to the race again. Even more so since he'll be accompanied by the second man of this year's Tour de France - Jonas Vingegaard.

Considering both amateurs had ample opportunity to exchange in depth with the media reporter, it seems they didn’t have all that much to say in the way of specifics. And the first rider who seemed so keen on getting his side of the latter part out somehow didn’t find the first part of any public interest. Did they overtake the 2nd amateur at some point? - That may be so but he probably can’t say tgst as it could be considered breach of contract if he was signed up for team/JV duties, in which case we might never know because he won’t want to take the risk of having to pay like WVA. I don’t think anyone knows what was promised but he accepted a pay reduction and could easily have continued at Jayco. To be honest, I don’t think ANYBODY was still counting on him winning a GT at that time, hence why he’d never got any interesting offers before. And then it happenedMistermaumau29-01-2026
