Marlen Reusser completes podium at World Championships time-trial: "I gave everything in me"

Marlen Reusser started the World Championships as a main favourite for the time-trial event, however could not handle the pace of the competition, having to settle for the bronze medal - however still carrying the European champion's jersey for the coming year.

“It was difficult to build up to this race because my preparation was interrupted by all kinds of small obstacles such as injuries and an illness shortly after the European Championship," Reusser said after the finish. "I gave everything in me. The course presented an extra challenge. I'm quite happy with this bronze medal."

The Team SD Worx rider struggled to reach the same level she had in August following health complications, but was still able to put on a strong time. She finished the race with a 41-second deficit over Ellen van Dijk, and saw Grace Brown ride to a tight second place in her home country.

This was the third occasion in which Reusser finished on the podium of the World Championships, as she looks to now complete a successful season.
