Lotte Kopecky - "I've never ridden such a long solo. I had to keep going"

Team SD Worx rider Lotte Kopecky claimed the top spot in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad race by riding solo and creating a substantial gap between herself and the other competitors. She ultimately crossed the finish line 11 seconds before Lorena Wiebes, her teammate and the second-place holder.

"I had no intention of going," she told wielerflits after the race. She continues, “But no one could follow me, so I had to keep going. I had to keep going. That was tough because I've never ridden such a long solo. I found it difficult to pace myself. I did well.”

Lotte Kopecky expresses gratitude to her teammate Lorena Wiebes for the vital support that helped her secure victory in the race. “Wiebes is clearly the fastest rider in the world. I'm fast, but not a top sprinter. When she came to our team, it was a sign for me to become a different rider. That is working out well now.”

Lotte Kopecky plans to take some time to celebrate before turning her attention to the upcoming Strade Bianche race." So I'm going to try and enjoy this first," concluded Kopecky.
