The president of the agglomeration and Mayor of Béthune, Olivier Gacquerre, tells Cyclism'Actu his dream of hosting a stage of the
Tour de France, something he has not done since 1984. "Today we have the enthusiasts, infrastructure, logistics, security. And also a unique and rugged route which would make it possible to have a great stage of the Tour de France," explains Olivier Gacquerre.
As the region is famous for its cobblestones, it is likely that, if the rumor is true, they will also make a comeback in the Grande Boucle program. A possibility which would recall the stage between Lille and Arenberg of the 2022 Tour.
