Mathieu van der Poel wins the Madrid Criterium 2023 as Luis León Sánchez ends career with elimination race success

On October 29, a great cycling party was held in the capital of Spain. The Madrid Criterium has hosted several of the best riders in the world along with some of the best Spanish promises of the future.

There were many highlights of the day. First of all, 39-year-old veteran Luis León Sánchez won the elimination race, ahead of none other than Mathieu van der Poel and Oier Lazkano. The rider from Murcia managed to give himself a bath of masses before putting an end to his professional career.

However, the final victory would go to the world champion, who would sweep the online race to win the Madrid Criterium 2023, ahead of Juan Ayuso and Omar Fraile.
