The Profronde van Drenthe could see a battle between the sprinters' as did the women's race, but instead the classics riders came to the fore and Jumbo-Visma's Per Strand Hagenes took the race victory.
The race saw plenty attacks and small groups go up the road, which ended up deciding the race. Hagenes, 19 years of age, took his maiden victory with Jumbo-Visma, whilst Tobias Lund Andresen and Adam de Vos completed the podium.
