🇪🇸 #VCV2022 Team Jumbo-Visma withdraws from Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana After two positive corona tests, Team Jumbo-Visma will no longer be at the start of the Tour of Valencia today.
After Team BikeExchange suffered the same faith, the Dutch squad is the next one affected by an outbreak of Covid.
Jumbo-Visma have announced this morning that they will be withdrawing from the ongoing Volta a Comunitat Valenciana after detecting two positive test within the team bubble, it is not public wether these were riders or staff members. The team had already lost their sprinter David Dekker earlier on in the race due to a bad crash, and now what was left of the lineup will either be isolated or sent home before returning to competition in the future.
"Since it cannot be ruled out that more people will test positive, the decision has been taken to protect others, inside and outside the team. From three days before the start, all team members, riders and staff alike, were subjected to daily corona tests to be able to act appropriately in the interest of everyone’s health," the team announced after receiving the news.
Although they were not having any of the team's main stars in the race, Sam Oomen and Milan Vader were set for a Top15 result after fighting through the hily stages near the Spanish coast.
