Juan Ayuso ambitious for Tour de Romandie time trial: "Hopefully I can take back some time before Saturday"

Rather uneventful stage 2 of Tour de Romandie didn't see any major action among the GC favourites, with most teams taking a defensive approach on an ascent to Les Marécottes. Same goes for Juan Ayuso who was seen closing couple of moves by himself in the final kilometers, but never really attempted to distance his opponents.

"I’m feeling better every day here, yesterday I suffered quite a lot on the stage," Ayuso confides in press release. "It’s good that even through the suffering I’m still up in the mix. Tomorrow is an important today and hopefully I can take back some time before Saturday. The race is still very open and me and Yates are still in a goo position so we’ll fight until the end."

Tomorrow we're bound to see some changes in the GC as riders take on a 15.5km long ITT in Oron. Ayuso will enter the stage from 7th overall, 27 seconds behind yellow jersey Thibau Nys, but only five seconds back from nearest GC favourite Luke Plapp. The Spaniard was undefeatable in individual timetrials in Switzerland last year, which should be a significant boost to the 21-year-old's confidence ahead of Friday.
