Jay Vine's season was anything but ideal, however sporting mishaps are quickly forgotten as the Australian climber and his wife welcome his first child. And it's just in time ahead of the start of Vuelta a Espana where Vine hopes to put in performances that would come at least close to his two stage victories from 2022.
But then again, even if the race doesn't go as planned for Vine, it probably couldn't bother the 28-year-old too much as he'll be very much looking forward to the last stage in Madrid to then spend some more time with his family that now consists of three.
Vine shared the happy news via his social media: "And then there were three. Introducing Harrison Charles Vine born on the 14th Aug 2024, 11:20pm. Mum and baby are healthy, and this little boy instantly stole our hearts."
"We had a day of pure bliss spent together as a new family. We were cutting it extremely close timing wise to welcome our little boy to the world, before I head off for a month to race La Vuelta early tomorrow morning. But we are extremely thankful that we were able to be together on the big day, he's already changed our whole world."
