We've not had to wait long for the first crash of the 2024 Tour de France. Before the flag has even been dropped for stage 1 in Florence, Soudal - Quick-Step's Jan Hirt has been introduced face first with the Italian tarmac.
"There 100 rules for the team but one with backpack made crashing Jan Hirt between the signings and the bus," details a furious Soudal - Quick-Step team boss Patrick Lefevere via his official social media accounts, sharing a very gruesome picture of his rider, sporting the wounds of the unneeded and unfortunate incident. "3 teeth broken."
