Medical Report & Withdrawals 2025 Tour de France Femmes: Update stage 9 - Chloe Dygert headlines four rider list to leave before conclusion

As is usual in a Grand Tour, the 2025 Tour de France Femmes will not be without its share of forced retirements, many of them the result of crashes and racing incidents. Here we've compiled a list of the withdrawals and the main crashes that will mark the course of the race.

There were many crashed on the opening day of the race. Around 20 riders were involved in a fall right at the neutral zone of the race including Juliette Labous. With 38 kilometers to go Clémence Latimier, Ruby Roseman-Gannon, Karoline Peretitko and Constance Valentin crashed; Later on Mavi García, Liane Lippert, Marion Bunel and Maeva Squiban were involved in a different one, whilst Marlen Reusser also was involved in one and abandoned the race. 

Elena Pirrone, Marie-Morgane Le Deunff, Ségolène Thomas and Lucie Fityus have arrived outside the time limit and were taken out of the race. Charlotte Kool, as a result of a crash on the previous day, did not start the stage whilst Sylvie Swinkels abandoned during the stage. Brodie Chapman was involved in one of the other several falls on the day.

Another very high-level withdrawal from the race, Elisa Longo Borghini did not start the stage after showing very bad health signs in the opening days of the race. Marion Bunel, Maeva Squiban, Eugenia Bujak, Victoire Berteau and Gladys Verhulst-Wild were amongst those involved in early crashes.

But there was no relief for the riders. Demi Vollering was involved in a crash just outside the final 3 kilometers and sustained a few injuries. Involved in the mass crash were also Cédrine Kerbaol, Chloé Dygert, Elise Chabbey, Puck Pieterse, Yara Kastelijn, Amalie Dideriksen, Dominika Wlodarczyk, Ruby Roseman-Gannnon, Letizia Paternoster, Laura Tomasi and Letizia Borghesi. Several riders are likely to abandon within the coming days as consequences of the dozens of riders hitting the deck.

Eleonora Camila Gasparrini and Rebecca Koerner did not start stage 4. During the stage Kristen Faulkner, Femke Gerritse and Nienke Vinke have suffered crashes. Demi Vollering's injuries have revealed themselves to not be serious, and the Dutchwoman also passed a concussion test positively.

A total of nine riders abandoned the race on stage 5. Among them, was crash victim from the previous day Kristen Faulkner. Also departing were Karlijn Swinkels, Elisa Balsamo, Marjolein van 't Geloof, Monica Trinca Colonel, Katrine Aalerud, Maria Giulia Confalonieri, Eugenia Bujak and Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka.

Both Valentina Cavallar and Mie Bjørndal Ottestad were both DNS over night, further reducing the numbers of the peloton. On the stage itself then, one further rider abandoned as Kristýna Burlová stepped off, after suffering a couple of crashes earlier on in the race. 

Two more riders saw their Tour de France Femmes campaigns come to an end on stage 7 as both Soraya Paladin and Elyne Roussel abandoned the race. 

After Dilyxine Miermont was a DNS overnight, Maillot Jaune wearing Kim Le Court had a scary moment on the descent, overcooking a corner and crashing. Although she did manage to get back into contention, Le Court lost the race lead on the final climb.

Both Chloe Dygert and Brodie Chapman were absent from the startline of the final day, before Gladys Verhulst-Wild and Alba Teruel both saw their race's end agonisingly before the finish.
