"It’s hard to describe how happy I am" - Tadej Pogacar thankful for support following Liège-Bastogne-Liège crash

Tadej Pogacar will be out of competition for five to six weeks as he recovers from the injuries he sustained at Liège-Bastogne-Liége, however he has come out on social media quite upbeat despite the circumstances, congratulating Remco Evenepoel and thanking the support he has received from within the cycling world.

"Well, shit happens. I am lucky it just broken wrist, considering crazy crash that happened," Pogacar wrote in an Instagram post. "I really wish the best recovery to Mikkel Honoré who went down way harder than me (the Dane reportedly suffered a double puncture and crashed, taking down Pogacar with him)."

With just over 80 kilometers of racing the duo went down, with Pogacar suffering a broken schaphoid and lunate bones. However in the space of a few hours he was diagnosed and operated and is already on his way back home this afternoon. He's taken time to address the fans following the crash that ended his spring campaign abruptly yesterday, but shows himself quite upbeat.

"It’s hard to describe how happy I am, to receive such a support and help from all the fans, family, friend, UAE Team Emirates and especially hospital staff," he continued. "I am truly amazed and so grateful for that. I hope to see you all really soon. Congrats to Remco Evenepoel for the victory, our battle will wait until next time.
