Red Bull - BORA - hangrohe have so far been able to keep Primoz Roglic in the fight for the win at the
Tour de France, although the withdraw of Aleksandr Vlasov is a meaningful hit. However one of his other domestiques,
Bob Jungels, is said to have now signed a deal with
INEOS Grenadiers.
This has been reported by
Daniel Benson, who is boots on the ground at the Tour. He argues that this deal is already confirmed, starting in 2025, and will have the duration of two seasons until the finale of the 2026 season - and it should be publicly revealed once we enter the month of August. This is a hit for the German team who is currently trying to succeed with the Slovenian, but will likely continue to do so in the coming years and lose here an important weapon for that mission.
The 31-year old has had the experience of many years at World Tour level and would join the British team to be a domestique for the likes of Carlos Rodríguez and Egan Bernal in the Grand Tours. On his own, the Luxembourger started off his career as a promising Grand Tour contenders, finishing twice in the Top10 of the Giro d'Italia in 2016 and 2017 but in the future he would never again crack that barrier.
Briefly, he also focused on the spring classics and in 2018 it was there that he achieved his career's greatest success: the victory at Liège-Bastogne-Liège with a long solo attack. The next year he won Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne and became part of Soudal - Quick-Step's cobbled classics block. However at the end of 2020 he looked to have his own leadership and freedom and moved to AG2R. A move that proved successful, as in 2022 he achieved a Tour de France victory in Châtel.
In 2023 he signed with BORA - hansgrohe and has since not taken a win on an individual level but became part of the team's block for the Grand Tours. Currently he is racing the Tour de France and is an important part of the support for Primoz Roglic.
