"I'm looking forward to that at the moment" - Puck Pieterse to make a debut at the Tour de France Femmes after Olympic MTB disappointment

Mountain biker and cyclo-cross rider Puck Pieterse will make her debut in the Tour de France Femmes this year. It will be her first major tour on the road.

During the review of the second day of the Olympic Games in Studio Parijs at NOS, she mentioned almost casually that she will participate in the Tour de France for women after this. "I'm going to ride a tour, in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. With a finish on Alpe d'Huez. I'm looking forward to that at the moment."

The 22-year-old cyclist finished fifth in Strade Bianche last year, her first professional road race. This year she has collected one place of honour after another in the major spring races. The Tour of Flanders, in which she finished sixth, was her last race before she focused on mountain biking.

The Tour de France Femmes starts on Monday 12 August in Rotterdam. On Sunday 18 August the race ends with a mountain stage with an uphill finish on the Alpe d'Huez.
