Wout van Aert has had a busy winter, with his preparation to the cyclocross World Championships a successful one, but the result being a second place. His focus is now in the road season, but a recent illness has slowed down his preparation.
After a few days of rest after the Hoogerheide World Championships, van Aert travelled to Tenerife where he has met with several of his teammates who are training at altitude at Mount Teide. The Belgian has been ill for the past few days however, skipping some days on the bike.
Van Aert will start his season at Strade Bianche after ending his training camp at Teide, and will aim high this spring. After having a Covid-19 infection bust his main goals of last year's spring, van Aert once again aims to win the Tour des Flandres and Paris-Roubaix. Strade Bianche and Milano-Sanremo are also on his plans as he leads a very strong Jumbo-Visma into the spring.
