Having taken victory at the last two editions and seen off the challenge of two-time winner in his own right,
Tadej Pogacar, Vingegaard will understandably start as the pre-race favourite. The 2024 edition though could see the biggest challenge yet to the
Jumbo-Visma leader as his former teammate
Primoz Roglic and former Vuelta a Espana winner
Remco Evenepoel are expected to join Pogacar and Vingegaard in the fight for Yellow.
“It seems the second to last road stage is super, super hard. with a lot of altitude too,” Vingegaard previews. “There may be less altitude metres than in total but I think the altitude metres that there are, are harder than this year. If we all four go there it’ll be a huge battle. I’m looking forward to it!"
