"I won't forget that for the rest of my life" - Ben Tulett recalls Wout van Aert's special welcoming gift on first day at Team Visma | Lease a Bike

Making the switch from the INEOS Grenadiers to Team Visma | Lease a Bike over the transfer window, Ben Tulett is one of the names to look out for in 2024.

The 22-year-old says he's living the dream with his new team. A big reason for this, came on one of his first days with Team Visma | Lease a Bike. "I received a special welcome, where I was presented with a shirt from my role model Wout van Aert. Very special, I won't forget that for the rest of my life," Tulett recalls in conversation with In de Leiderstrui.

Like van Aert, Tulett comes from a dual-discipline background, making the Belgian someone that Tulett has always looked up to. "Wout comes from cyclocross, so I grew up with him," the British rider explains. "It was nice to spend time with him, I can learn a lot from him in the future."

"It's great to be here and I really enjoyed the first training camp in December. Perhaps it was my best training camp of my career. Very focused on performance, but not too serious, as you might expect. It was always fun, even at the table," continues Tulett. "I haven't had any hazing or anything, that's not how the team works. This is really one team, we go for the goals together, no one is arrogant. It is inspiring to be in an environment where everyone wants to be the best version of themselves, on and off the bike. With that we take the team to the next level, and I want to be part of that."
