Jonas Abrahamsen's dream
Tour de France continues, as the
Uno-X Mobility rider will start as leader of both points and mountain classifications also on Tuesday. And he's not without chances to visit the flower ceremony also in
Valloire.
"It’s the Tour de France, the biggest race in the world so you have to take whatever you can," Abrahamsen begins in a
press communication from ognasiers. "I’ve been dreaming about this since I started cycling when I was 14 years old. It’s so big for me to come here and take the green jersey and the polka dot jersey. I will try to keep it like this as long as possible."
On the first mountain sprint, it was Abrahamsen's young teammate Johannes Kulset - the youngest rider of this year's Tour de France peloton - to lead out the man in green. "Johannes is the youngest rider in the peloton here and he just asked me if we could make some show for TV and I have the green jersey and he’s the youngest rider and I think he loved it. Sometimes you have to put on a show and have some fun."
Tomorrow will be the first big day in the mountains, although the rather shallow slopes might see the biggest guns remain cold. Perhaps a chance for Abrahamsen add some more points? "I think it will be hard for me tomorrow, I am 80 kg and there are a lot of hills. Maybe if I get in the breakaway it will be best but I think it will be hard on the first climb. But we will see, hopefully I can keep one of the jerseys after tomorrow."
Abrahamsen is currently in the lead of KOM classification at 24 points, with 13 points of advantage over Valentin Madouas. However tomorrow's stage will offer up to 30 points including the special prize Souvenir Henri Desgrange on top of Galibier. There is also a good chance the Norwegian will continue in green after tomorrow's stage if Biniam Girmay scores less than 10 points and Mads Pedersen less than 17.
